Irma Rangel YWLS PTA Newsletter - December 2004

Taylor-Made Bits and Pieces
From Our Principal
Ms. Vivian Taylor-Samudio

How time flies!…Happy Holidays to the Irma Lerma Rangel YWLS family. It’s hard to believe it’s already December. Here are a few upcoming highlights…

Field trips…On Thursday, December 2nd, we will have a school-wide field trip to visit the Women’s Museum and the Museum of Natural History, both in Fair Park.

Community Service…Developing the habit of community service is an integral part of our leadership training. The Canned Food Drive was a great success. We reached our goal, 500 cans of food for the North Texas Food Bank. Thank you, Ms. Brooks for coordinating this effort.

Our Handbell Choir, under the leadership of Ms. Priest, will play at the Vickery Meadows Assisted Living facility on Friday, December 10. The girls are also putting together “Shoe Boxes with Love” for Vickery Meadows residents. The following items are needed: Kleenex, liquid/bar soap, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shoeboxes (wrapped).

Recruiting…Next year our school will include the 7, 8 and 9 grades. Starting Jan. 10, applications for the 2005-2006 academic year will be available at all DISD schools and on the District’s website, www.dallasisd.org.

Applications will be accepted from
Jan. 31 – Feb.25.
